In a new study published in The BMJ, Sadiq Patel, PhD and Data Science Lead at Waymark and fellow researchers examine the growing role of nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) in the U.S. healthcare system. The study found that from 2013-2019, the fraction of U.S. health visits delivered by NPs and PAs increased from 14.0% to 25.6% — highlighting the increasing importance of non-physicians in delivering care, especially among lower-income, rural and disabled patients.
